Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad – a lead centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space – has released SAC Recruitment 2026 (Advertisement No. SAC:02:2026, dated 10.09.2026) inviting online applications for 48 temporary positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Research Associate (RA) and Project Scientist-I (PS-I) across 16 post codes. The SAC JRF Recruitment 2026, SAC Research Associate Recruitment and SAC Project Scientist-I Recruitment drives span disciplines including semiconductor technology, RF & microwave engineering, VLSI, photonics, atmospheric sciences, oceanography, geophysics, remote sensing, GIS, hydrology and computer science.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for SAC Recruitment 2026 varies by post code and is based on educational qualification, age limit, and (for JRF posts) a qualifying national-level test. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. Meeting the prescribed qualification is a minimum requirement only and does not automatically make a candidate eligible for the selection process.

Minimum Marks Required

Wherever an M.E./M.Tech degree is prescribed, candidates must have passed with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. Wherever an M.Sc/B.E./B.Tech degree is prescribed, candidates must have passed with a minimum aggregate of 65% marks (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Rounding-off of marks is not allowed, and CGPA cannot be converted to a percentage (or vice versa) to determine eligibility, even if the university prescribes a conversion formula.

Additional Qualifying Test for JRF Posts (Post Code 01 to 07)

Applicants for JRF posts (Post Code 01 to 07) must also have qualified one of the following, with the result/score card valid as on the closing date of online application, 30.09.2026:

  • National Eligibility Test (NET) – CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship)
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • National-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments/agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.

Candidates pursuing professional courses through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible. Candidates whose final year/semester result was not declared as on 30.09.2026 are also not eligible to apply.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The SAC Recruitment 2026 age limit differs for JRF posts and the RA/PS-I posts, and is reckoned as on 30.09.2026.

  • Post Code 01 to 07 (JRF): Maximum age limit is 28 years as on 30.09.2026.
  • Post Code 08 to 16 (RA/PS-I): Maximum age limit is 35 years as on 30.09.2026.

Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates. Serving Central Government employees, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, ex-servicemen, etc. are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India rules. OBC candidates get the relaxation only if they do not fall in the creamy layer as on the date of online application, and the OBC certificate must specifically state exclusion from the creamy layer and be current/valid.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Salary

SAC Recruitment 2026 salary (fellowship/associateship amount) varies by post as follows. The fellowship amount is treated as Basic Pay for benefits like medical facility.

For Research Associates, the associateship amount is fixed at one of the three pay levels shown above, based on the candidate’s qualification and experience. House Rent Allowance (HRA) at prescribed rates will be paid if hostel accommodation is not provided, and medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per extant rules. Leave and other benefits will be granted as per DOS/Government of India rules; selected candidates will not be entitled to any other benefits or concessions admissible to regular employees.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

There is no application fee for any post under SAC Recruitment 2026. This applies to all categories and all post codes (01 to 16).

SAC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The SAC Recruitment 2026 selection process is interview-based. Meeting the prescribed minimum qualification does not automatically make a candidate eligible for the selection process.

  • If a large number of applications are received for a post, shortlisting for the interview will be done based on academic records and subject specialisation. The decision of the SAC committee in this regard is final.
  • The list of shortlisted candidates and interview schedule will be published on the SAC website.
  • Call letters for the interview will be sent to shortlisted candidates only by email. No communication will be sent to candidates who are not shortlisted.
  • The selection committee will interview eligible candidates, and the selection panel will be prepared based on interview performance only.

SAC JRF, RA & PS-I Tenure Details

  • JRF: Engaged initially for one year, extendable based on assessment of work and project requirement. Maximum period of engagement shall not exceed five years.
  • Research Associate (RA): Engaged initially for one year, extendable based on assessment of work and project requirement. Maximum period of engagement shall not exceed three years.
  • Project Scientist-I (PS-I): Engaged initially for one year or till the project duration, extendable based on assessment of work and project requirement. All PS-I positions are co-terminus with the project.

The positions are temporary and for a specific duration only, and do not confer any claim or right to regular appointment in any DOS/ISRO Centre.

How to Apply for SAC Recruitment 2026

Applications for SAC Recruitment 2026 will be accepted online only; physical/offline applications will not be entertained. Interested and eligible candidates can apply as follows:

  1. Visit the official SAC website, https://www.sac.gov.in, or the career portal, https://career.sac.gov.in.
  2. Register on the online recruitment portal, which is open from 1000 hrs on 10.09.2026 to 1700 hrs on 30.09.2026.
  3. Fill in the online application form carefully, entering correct data in all relevant columns, ensuring fields marked with * (mandatory) are completed.
  4. Upload a recent colour passport-size photograph (JPEG, under 1 MB, plain/white background, full face visible, no selfies, no black-and-white images).
  5. Upload your signature as a JPEG file under 1 MB, with an aspect ratio of 7:2.
  6. Upload documents related to essential educational qualification and, where applicable, Caste/Tribe certificate and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) certificate, in the prescribed format (file size under 1 MB each).
  7. Review all entered details carefully, since the application can be submitted only once and no corrections are possible after clicking ‘SUBMIT’.
  8. Submit the application before 1700 hrs on 30.09.2026 and note the application number provided for future correspondence.
  9. Take a printout of the application summary for future reference, as the portal will not be available for printing after 1700 hrs on 30.09.2026.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Important Instructions

  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
  • Only applications made online will be considered; physical applications will not be entertained.
  • There is no application fee for any post.
  • The prescribed qualification against each post must have been completed within the stipulated duration of the course as prescribed by the University/Institution.
  • Where a university mentions only CGPA/grading point, that CGPA must independently meet DOS/ISRO’s eligibility criteria; conversion of CGPA to percentage is not permitted for determining eligibility.
  • Where both CGPA and percentage are mentioned, at least one of the two must meet the DOS/ISRO eligibility norms.
  • For candidates with Dual/Integrated Degrees, specific CGPA/percentage reckoning rules apply as detailed in the official notification.
  • All communication regarding further recruitment process/personal interview will be sent only through email or published on the SAC website – candidates must furnish a correct email ID and check it regularly.
  • Candidates must produce original documents along with self-attested copies (mark sheets/degrees, caste/tribe certificate, NOC, declaration, etc.) at the time of interview; failure to do so means the candidate will not be permitted to appear for interview and TA will not be paid.
  • If any information in the online application is found false at any stage, or if the candidate does not fulfil the prescribed criteria, the candidature will be cancelled.
  • In case of multiple applications for the same post, the last application submitted before the closing date will be considered.
  • Candidates employed under Central/State Government, PSUs, or Autonomous Bodies must submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.
  • Candidates possessing degrees from foreign universities must produce an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, at the time of interview.
  • PwBD candidates must submit an original disability certificate (minimum 40% disability) in the prescribed format at the time of interview.
  • Selected JRFs are encouraged to register for a Ph.D. from a recognised university on a topic benefitting both the individual and SAC, but must work extra time to complete the Ph.D. research, for which no separate leave will be granted.
  • Clearance from the appropriate SAC/ISRO authority must be taken before publishing any work report.
  • JRF/RA/PS-I will be governed by the disciplinary regulations of SAC/ISRO.
  • On completion of tenure or resignation, a detailed consolidated report of research work done must be submitted.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification. No interim correspondence or phone calls will be entertained.
  • Selected candidates will be posted at SAC, Ahmedabad, but may be required to work and stay at any location in India during the project tenure.
  • Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to-and-fro Second/Sleeper Class railway fare or non-AC bus fare or actual fare, whichever is less, as per shortest distance, on production of proof of journey.
  • Candidates pursuing professional courses through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not eligible.
  • SAC/ISRO reserves the right to cancel/postpone the interview without assigning any reason, and to terminate the contract even before project completion, against which no appeal can be made.
  • Any Addendum/Update/Corrigendum will only be published on the SAC website – candidates should check regularly for updates.
